Semi-plenary lecturer: Mitsuteru Asai

Mitsuteru Asai is an Associate Professor of civil engineering at Kyushu University, Japan. He is a councilor of the Japanese Society of Computational Engineering and Science (JSCES), a member of Japanese Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE), and a member of Mechanical Engineers (JSME). He currently engages in research on the large scale computations for disaster mitigation and prevention by using a multi-scale and multi-physics simulation tool based on the particle method. Professor Asai has won the Yong Researcher Award in the JSCES, and he is currently joining as a member of Priority Issue 3 of the Post-K computer project –Development of integrated simulation systems for hazards and disasters induced by earthquakes and tsunamis.
