Semi-plenary lecturer: Ning Hu

Professor Ning Hu received his Ph.D. degree from Chongqing University in 1991. He had been working at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Tohoku University, Tsinghua University, The Johns Hopkins University, Chiba University, Hunan University, etc., as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor, etc. Before his back to China in 2013, he was the Head of Division of Artificial System Science and the Chairman of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Chiba University, Japan. Dr. Hu is now the Dean and Professor of College of Aerospace Engineering, Chongqing University, China; Adjunct Professor of Queensland University of Technology and Guest Professor of several Universities, e.g., Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He has generated around 260 peer-reviewed journal articles (including 200 SCI papers) on various high rank journals, such as Advanced Functional Mater., Nanoscale, Carbon, Acta Mater., Compos. Sci. Tech., Nanotech., ACS Applied Mater. & Interface, etc.. He also published 9 review papers, three English monographs and over 10 Chinese and Japanese patents. His articles have been cited by over 4000 times with H-Index: 32. He is now Associate Editor, Lead Guest Editor and Editorial Board Member of 13 English, Japanese and Chinese journals, e.g., Composites Science & Technology, Journal of Nanomaterials, etc.. He has also received some important awards and honors, e.g., “Overseas Outstanding Young Scholar from NSF, China, 2007”, “Thousand Talents Plan Distinguished Expert, China, 2013”, etc.. His research outcome and achievement has been reported by a Special Coverage by Asahi Newspaper (Japan), 2006. He was also selected by Elsevier as one of “The Most Highly Cited Chinese Researcher” from 2014 to 2016 in the field of mechanics of materials.
